Other side of the coin. (NYSC Posting)
By; Success Enai Blessing
Been posted to a place you do not like can be very heartbreaking. Some people start to feel the hurt after getting their letter of posting, some are strong until they get to their ppa and see the new environment isn't what they have bargained for. Sometimes it feels like you have been alienated from the world. The network is bad, transportation is uncomfortable and the villagers can not speak the language you understand. Can it get any worse? You keep asking yourself until you realize the light situation is noting to write home about, the market is an hour away, there are no hospitals or health care centers close-by and then boom!!! the shocker, the villagers build their houses without toilets, meaning you have to use the bush, (Open defecation) like you see in those Nollywood village movies.
Sometimes we may have to deal with difficult employers and senior staff. The work condition may not be what you bargained for. Imagine been miles away from home and been uncomfortable. It can truly feel like a nightmare. The issue here is how can I make the most of these situation? You will agree that 11 months is too long to waste. Nobody wants to be sad and depressed that long. You can still turn lemons to lemonades.
First things first, no matter where you have been posted to, corps members are on ground serving, This could be a step in the right direction. If they can survive,Then you can too. Talk to them, make new friends, establish new bonds. Who knows, you may be serving with the next minister of finance or even the mother of your children. Whichever way, being with amazing people helps us go through this journey better.
You can also get the things that makes life easier. You can buy a strong power bank, get a mini generator, get a phone with a longer battery life, plan picnic with new friends, get chess, play football, jog long distances, create a home away from home because you deserve it.
This could be another opportunity to recreate yourself. What does not break you makes you stronger. Find out more interesting things about you, create new hobbies, take pictures, make impact.
Life is throwing you another page, you can write whatever story that interests you on it. Sometimes there is more to what we see on the surface and NYSC is another time to discover it. The Clarion call can also be a roller coaster ride. It's all in your court. Make hay while the sun shines.
Wow!!! This is Amazing. So much wisdom, Knowledge & Understand. Nice 1. #MoreGraceForUsAll
ReplyDeleteAwesome, There are two types of Societies; "Victim " Society and "responsible "society. While the former heaps blame on the government for their been posted to an unfavorable environment, The latter accepts the new development and straight away sees an opportunity to develop themselves. Your happiness is in your hands. Once again, Well written
