ACCOMMODATING OTHER VIEWS
The bests of men are those that realise they can only contribute an infinitesimal part of the global pool of knowledge and as such will need a lot of information from others

I really don't expect people to agree with all my opinions. That's the first thing I told myself at the beginning of my writing career. No matter what idea I advance, no matter on what premises I base my argument, I may be wrong. My conclusion are my opinion, and possibly opinions of a few who see the world through my eyes.
I have a friend call Cyprian who doesn't share my political views. Even my girlfriend does not share some of my views. I learnt from experience that the best of scientific postulations may be proven wrong after a while. This applies to human philosophy and opinions of scholars. The only person that is infallible is *GOD.*
Each time people come with a position, they may talk with absolute certainty. Yet, after a while a superior argument overrides theirs, well researched position. The world was believed to be flat for many centuries, till someone came up with a superior argument that the world was round. He was persecuted. Yet the world got to know that he was right many years after death.
Therefore, it is important to allow others voice their own opinion. It is equally important to listen to others without interruptions. There is the need to patiently understand the reasons behind the opinions of others and to also find out the reason for their conclusions. Many of our children at home have a lot to say and contribute. Due to eldership matrix in African culture, they are shut down without giving them a fair hearing. Living as if one has got all the information and therefore error prone, is living as a divinity. The bests of men are those that realise they can only contribute an infinitesimal part of the global pool of knowledge and as such will need a lot of information from others to be better informed and be completely sound.
