Youths Can Enjoy Affordable Balanced Diet
Health is wealth they say, with the increasing cost of food items across the country, I have little to wonder how a youth can survive in not just eaten what comes his or her way but deliberately eaten a balanced meal with merger resources.
Here are ways youths especially Corp members, students and newly wedded can spend less than five hundred naira daily on an affordable but balanced diet.
Buy in Bulk Monthly.
Buy beverages, cereals, full or half crate of eggs, and a carton or half of noodles for breakfast. These are affordable, easy, quick and less stressful to prepare. Alot people don't like noodles, but noodles can be made healthy when prepared with vegetables and protein (eggs), spaghetti is also an alternative.
For food stuffs like rice, yams, beans, plantain, garri and oil, equal amount of monies can be contributed amongst 3 to 4 Corps members, friends or even couples to be able to buy in bulk and shared equally to minimize cost.
When you buy in bulk, it will earn you discounts, and you do not have to do it more than once a month or longer.
Create A Monthly Budget For Food.
Have an idea of how much you are going to spend, you can go lesser, but never exceed this budget. Make a list every month to buy food stuffs you do not have and the ones you're almost running out of.
As a Corp member, student or newly wedded a 4,000 - 5,000 budget would be ideal for those who adhere to the rule of buying in bulk. Remember you still have other needs and you need to put something into your monthly savings.
-Keep Your Meals Simple.
You can't put everything in one meal. You don't need to use egg, fish, kpomo, meat and fried plantain to eat rice. One thing at a time is enough, as far it's tasty, balanced and quench hunger. Even when preparing your soups, you could go for just two slices of kpomo into tiny bits, then get ice fish and you're good to go.
Reduce The Regular Habit Of Eating Out
Pack your own lunch to work, school and office.
It is healthier and more affordable to snack on fruits like apples and bananas.
Spending between N 600– N1000 daily might not seem that much until you calculate your total expenses for the week or month. That's about 600 x 7 which is 4,200 in a week, 600 x 30 that's 18,000 monthly. Shocking right?
Water Is Your Number One Companion
Soda drinks shouldn't be taken with or after meals, they can never replace meals. Drink enough water not to go dehydrated. Water helps in detoxification of our body system.
If few or all this guides are religious practiced, corps members, students and youths in general won't have to spend on food daily, you will have enough and to spare. You will eat good balanced diet and still be able to afford other things and also save up within a year.
Just follow the basic and simple strategies and you'll be happy you did.
