RESIDENTS OF DEGEJI COMMUNITY SEEK BRIDGE AND ROAD CONSTRUCTION
A community without a motorable road is as good as dead as such community will never experience development.
The residents of degeji, a community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State have raised up their voices to the government over the bad state of the roads and bridges which has hindered the community growth and development.
In an interview with an anonymous resident He said, conveying their farm products such as yams, cassavas and maize to neighboring communities for sales has been a major problem for them as farming is their major source of income.
“We need a solid bridge over this river as transporting our goods to other community has proved difficult for us whereby damaging not only our goods but also our vehicle”.
Another resident Aliyu Dauda, expressed his dissatisfaction concerning the infrastructural state of the community stating that the road becomes worse during raining seasons which makes more difficult for them to travel to other communities for their various businesses.
“This road has been like this for over a decade, discouraging companies, banks, private investors and most especially telecommunication companies from coming to our community. So it is difficult for us to use our mobile phones or access the internet since we don’t have a network connection here” He said.
Aliyu said the community is hereby calling on governments, international organizations, NGOs and Stakeholders to come to the community’s aid.
