Illegal Migration affects Nigeria's future
Zaynab Muhammad.
It cannot be over emphasized that lack of job opportunities and poverty is the motivating factor pushing youths to make a decision they think will make their dreams come true. To an average Nigerian, Europe is a land of opportunity, luxury and fantasies. They accept migrants with open arms, accommodate them and give them jobs so as to boost their economy. Most of the migrants are aware of some of the risk and danger yet they still believe it is worth taking. Initially, I used to believe most of the migrants are illiterates but after making my research I found out 90% of Nigerian youth that take this journey are graduates and well educated. Most of them go with their parents consent, some parents pay and pray for the journey.
How this affect Nigeria's Future?
Like the saying goes THE YOUTHS ARE FUTURE LEADERS. I want us to imagine Nigeria without it's youth. Imagine it being governed by self centered, corrupted, successful businessmen. The price of fuel will increase yet education remains expensive, Nigeria will be too difficult for the poor to live in. As youth's we have the power to change the situation of our country, thats if we keep telling ourselves CHANGE BEGIN'S WITH ME.
How can me resolve this problem?
The youth should be enlightened about the risk of taking this journey, they might know some but sure don't know all. Let them know that if a person doesn't achieve his dream in Europe he might end up becoming a slave in Libya. Tell me is this journey worth taking?
