COVID-19 SHOULD UNITE US ALL

My countrymen we are today faced with a critical situation, the entire universe for once stands in awe of what has befallen us all in this arduous times, it is with faith in whatever it is we believe whether God or gods that someday we will look back and confess we fought a good fight but till then we must be our brothers keeper by doing everything possible within our reach to ensure we don’t suffer more than we ought.

Covid-19 has been defined in various languages, understanding and perspective by doctors, scientists, analysts and even politicians, some argued it’s a result of a damage in our climate, these definitions has pulled various stunts causing disunity amongst nations and people of interest, nevertheless today be urged to see covid-19 not as it has been defined by people of interest but rather see it as an attack on our dear universe and further note that whatever affects our universe affects us all and makes the next generation impossible.

My fellow compatriots, Covid-19 should unite us all, now is the time to put aside differences, now is the time to halt grievances and embrace oneness. The more we are together the stronger we become, this is the exact time love, forgiveness, tolerance and empathy must play out lest we would be consumed by the enemy of our universe. In all honesty without any equivocation this is a point where we must not cleave to personal or ethnic interest, Dr Chuba Okadigbo of the blessed memory haven envisioned the negative effects of ethnic and tribal chauvinism was forced to quote thus ‘ if you are emotionally attached to your tribe, religion or political leaning to the point that truth and injustice becomes secondary considerations, your education is useless, your exposure is useless, if you cannot reason beyond petty sentiments you are a liability to mankind.

We can’t afford to be liabilities to mankind or our precious universe, this is definitely not the time as our tomorrow is not promised even though nature has been a bit fair to Nigeria and Africa as a continent but look keenly at what is happening in Italy, China, United kingdom, America  and other developed countries including Australia who are yet to recover from the fire outbreak. In all these occurrences nature has smiled at us and we must smile back at her by exhibiting love, reconciliation and fairness.

Every nation bearing arms in their hands or in their hearts must drop them now and unite, what has befallen us is far beyond fighting for boundaries, lots, lands and political interests, this is no time to speak or act as a Christian, Muslim, Jew, Buddhist or atheist but a time to speak in unity.

Dear Nigerians this worrisome time is not the right time to be unfair, the time we are in is definitely not the time to inflate the prices of essential commodities, this must not be an avenue to make unfair gains but rather the time to be kind, considerate and sacrificial; we must learn from neighboring countries who have been affected immensely by this pandemic and advice ourselves, we must not let our greed increase the pain of the current situation but rather we must all be agents of relief by not inflating the prices of essential commodities and health facilities.

Italy today has surrendered to hope and to God, let us at this early stage while we draw modalities on how to defeat Covid-19 also surrender to hope and to God by perfectly adhering to instructions by the government and the world health organization (WHO) by staying at home, washing our hands regularly with soap and observing social distancing so we can perhaps control the effectiveness of Covid-19 who is today a threat to our universe and the possibilities of having a next generation.

God bless Nigerians, God bless the federal republic of Nigeria God bless our universe.
