TRAVAILS OF LIFE
By; Omiwole Seun
In the darkest night
He sits still with his fingers crossed
Hearing the resonance of energy deep down
Knowing time is not on his side
The dawn beckons to him from afar
What is the way out?
He wanders about
Thinking how ill life has treated him
Dancing in the thorns of fire
Not knowing when he will have tranquility in the vexation of life
What is the way out?
There should be a shortcut
Should I bypass this time?
Should I change the engine?
Who will know the difference?
China made or German made
He goes about in his travails
Afterall, man is just like grass
Dust and dust is his end
Let me go for the shortcut
Should I wait a little while?
He is at the junction fidgeting
Eyes dark and lovely but
His mind, a war – torn zone
Should he enjoy life while it lasts?
Should he go to the left?
Should he go to the right?
Oh! The right is not pleasing to the eyes
Yea! The left is pleasing to the eyes
With all the pleasures there in
He is in the middle standing like a toddler
The left beckons to him like a
Prostitute with all her goodies
Saying come and dine with me
He who dines with me enjoys life
He is in the climax fighting his shadow
Should I dine with her or not?
He is at the T-junction crying for help
No one except his thoughts
No one except his shadow
Going to the left
Not knowing everything is vanity
The Wisdom of Solomon
Everything is but food for termites
The travails of life is all but vanity
The entire Team at Campus Vapour say a Big Happy Birthday to Mr Seun Omiwole, a Poet per excellence.
