Interview conducted by Musa Amos Sumakada
My name is Oyugboh Liberty Osaze,
I am 21 years old, I am a young, vibrant and a resilient individual who loves proffering solutions to problems within my community and the world at large and I have been doing this since the age of 14.
You won the technovation challenge 2019, what was the experience like?
It was challenging, inspiring and it also gives me a sense of fulfilment.
I got the information to come pitch my idea late in the evening in another state about 6 hours from Lagos where the event was to hold that next morning, I had no other choice than to take a night bus, which I haven't done before. Apart from this, there were other challenges I had to go through until I finally was able to pitch my idea and win the competition. I am glad I took that night bus, I am glad I took the chance to allow my light shine as this has brought me so many opportunities I haven't witnessed before and it has given me the courage to pursue my dreams.
When did you find love for technology?
I fell in love with TECH when I was 6 years old back then in a small village in Edo state (Emu), right from a young age I have been an extremely curious being wanting to know more about everything around me and how they work. I remember once asking my dad if the people speaking from the radio set are really inside the radio. During this period the only electronic we had was the radio set, there was no electricity, no television and definitely no mobile phone. My love for tech grew bigger when I got to Lagos in 2009, after loosing my dad in 2005, I had to move to Lagos to stay with my aunt in order to continue my secondary education. I started having access to the internet in 2012 via computers in my church because I didn't have a mobile phone then. In 2014, my team headed by me won the first edition of innovate Lagos competition. An initiative by Lagos State government that seeks to derive growth through ideas from students in secondary schools, there were about 500 teams from the whole of Lagos island schools including Kings college but my idea came out number one, though we didn't get what was promised by the government which was, a trip to London but I was able to meet my first mentor Remi Owadokun.
What are your hobbies?
My hobbies include, in-depth cognitive analysis, taking walks in natural, serene environments, researching on the internet about new technologies and future of humanity, I am also interested in understanding nature of the universe, like, space time continuum, black holes, dark matter and other interesting aspect of physics, I also love music, it helps me a lot in thinking.
How can web development be maximized in Nigeria?
There are a lots of opportunities when it comes to web development. Like I said earlier, It's all about finding a problem and proffering solution to it.
Worldwide web provides opportunities such as e-commerce and provision of service. If youth can realize these opportunities, they can harness them but it all starts from discovery.
Who are your mentors?
Remi Owadokun and John Obidi these people have impacted me positively in tremendous ways.
What inspires you?
My background and the number of people who are looking up to me to be something in this generation.
On your Facebook page, you addressed yourself a problem solver, what does it take to be a problem solver?
To call yourself a problem solver you must learn to be proactive, you must understand that complaints are just illusions and excuses are not real. You must learn to differentiate yourself from the crowd and forget about popular opinions. You must have the right mindset, which is, to every problem, there is always a solution and it's your responsibility to find that solution and implement it.

I watch sci-fi movies and sometimes comedy.
What has changed after winning the award?
It has only validated my dreams and increased my yearns for greatness.

It has affected me negatively in the sense that access to basic needs is difficult and it's hard dreaming when you are trying to survive.

NATRICS HOME MANAGER and how to make it a fully viable product.
What are your plans for the future?
To build the leading smart tech company in Africa that is capable of competing and even dominating international tech companies, Create a central tech hub where youths are trained for free on deep technologies such as AI, ROBOTICS, CRYONICS, IOT and the rest, reduce the importation of technology in Nigeria, encourage more youths to embrace problem solving instead of complaining.
What are your advice to youths, many who are still unemployed?
Find a problem around you, solve it and money will follow you but don't forget, it takes guts and the human spirit, you will have some ups and downs, you will fail. Humans are bound to fail and we will continue to fail at something but failure is the most powerful tool you can use for success.
