You Don't Need a Plane to fly
Tolorunse M. Joseph.
I was about to crossing the road this morning, I saw a bus with an inscription, saying “You don’t need a plane to fly”. It was boldly written on the bus which on the other hand was meant to persuade people not to see planes as the only means to their destination. So I thought about it and it made sense to me. It opened my eyes to the rising rate of the philosophy that to succeed in life especially in Nigeria, it's all about connection or having an uncle that has a long leg somewhere. What an erroneous thinking! I am not disputing the fact that you can be assisted by someone to attain a certain position but to corrupt your life on ‘connection’ before you prosper is a great disaster to your life.
Traveling by plane is faster and stress-free compared to a bus. Let’s say you want to travel from Lagos to Abuja. A plane takes one hour while the bus on the other hand takes 13-14hours depending on the speed. But what happens when an accident happens to the plane while flying? Have you thought about the casualty? It takes more than a skillful and competent pilot to save both a crashing plane and the passengers. However, let us take a look at the bus. When a bus suddenly develops a fault on motion, the likelihood of survival is high and the problem can be fixed with little or no casualty.
That simple analogy explains how life works. How young people especially are in a rush to make this thing called “money”. When you try to get to your destination through shortcuts and any error occurs on the way, you might not live to tell the tale. I am not against networking neither am I against referral. These two are great aids to success but finding a shortcut to it might be a catastrophe.
Finally, the path to success is not always smooth and that is why it’s not for the weak but for the strong who has determined not to look at how rugged the road looks rather continue to move on with the quest for a better future.
Thank you very much for your time I hope to see you next week and hear your feedbacks in the comment box below. Have a great week ahead.
